- to facilitate reflection as well as the confrontation and development of ideas, about questions posed to society and the individual by ageing.
- to diffuse knowledge on this subject issuing from research in technology, economics, medical and social sciences.
- to aid the different players (intellectuals, journalists, office holders, business executives and managers, experts . . .) to interpret the changes in relation with ageing.
- to elaborate and diffuse concrete medium and long-term proposals.
- to propagate ideas or initiatives in the arena of public opinion, in order to stir up the widest possible debate.
And more generally, to implement every action with a view to defending the interests of its members, and to obtain the objectives of the association.
This is a place for innovation without political or economic constraint.
The Institute is organized around its objective of effectiveness in the service of its statutory aim:
- a decision making body, The Council of Administration
- an overseeing authority, The General Assembly
- a multidisciplinary committee of orientation, The Scientific Council
- some working groups
- a team of volunteers for daily operations
The Council of Administration, composed of between four and twelve members designated by The General Assembly for renewable three-year terms, is charged with the management, direction, and administration of The Institute.
The General Assembly includes all the members of The Institute:
- Active members (legal entities and individuals who actively participate in the operation of The Institute, accept its present statutes,
and pay annual dues)
- Honorary members and benefactors (personalities who have performed important services for The Institute or who have lent it their
moral support, engaging themselves to make it the beneficiary of their experience and their credit)
- Associate members (individuals interested in the work of The Institute who have an advisory voice in the meetings of the General
Assembly)
Associative identity is expressed through different sub-groups of members:
- Public decision makers DP
- Teachers-researchers R
- Consultants C
- Entrepreneurs E
- Financial Institutions IF
- Health Professions PS
- Seniors and their families S
The Scientific Council, composed of qualified persons, is principally consulted on:
- the activities of The Institute (studies, research projects, meetings, diffusion of information . . .)
- its orientation towards development
- projects for co-operation with other institutions, French and foreign
In connexion with priorities defined by the Scientific Council, some work groups are being constituted. They gather together members of The Institute coming from the different sub-groups who are concerned with a particular subject. Bringing together those with special competencies and professional experience, they contribute collectively to increasing knowledge on the subject and to developing concrete medium and long- term proposals which will be published by the institute in different forms: reports, dossiers, synthesizing memoranda, the newsletter, and the blog.
